- Sugar
- While sugar is essential to our metabolism, we get plenty in a balanced diet without any additional sugar of any type added to the foods we eat. Processed foods almost always contain additional sugar and various chemical additives that should be avoided.
- Cane Sugar (Table Sugar)
- Fructose (corn) Syrup
- High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is widely used in the US food industry primarily due to its lower cost compared to other sweeteners and its ease of use in food processing. It's also favored for its ability to enhance flavor and extend shelf life.
- Sugar Alternatives
- Hormones found in meat products.
- Meat producers frequently add growth hormones and antibiotics to livestock feed in order to speed growth and increase production. The indiscriminate use of these additives is terrible for the environment and for our health. Whenever possible, it would be best to avoid growth hormones and antibiotics in our food.
- Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) - Food producers are using genetically modified food and other organisms. The DNA in these products have been modified in ways that cannot occur in the natural world. Beware! We do not yet know the full extent of the unintended consequences.
